Horses

We provide an integrative approach to equine sports medicine focused on optimizing performance, improving mobility, supporting recovery, and maintaining long-term musculoskeletal health.

Equine sports medicine and spinal manipulation may be beneficial for horses experiencing performance changes, discomfort, or movement restrictions related to musculoskeletal dysfunction.

Treatments and appointments are offered as farm calls and typically range from 30–60 minutes, depending on the patient.

Spinal Medical Manipulation (Chiropractic Care)

  • Spinal manipulation is performed as part of a comprehensive musculoskeletal evaluation to identify areas of restriction or dysfunction that may be affecting performance, comfort, or movement.

  • Each session includes a dynamic and static assessment, followed by motion palpation to evaluate joint mobility throughout the spine and extremities.

  • When appropriate, treatment is performed using high-velocity, low-amplitude (HVLA) thrusts to restore normal range of motion and support neuromuscular function.

  • Care is always guided by the individual horse’s findings, comfort level, and performance goals.

Conditions We Treat

  • Decreased performance or resistance under saddle

  • Stiffness or reduced range of motion

  • Asymmetry in movement or gait abnormalities

  • Back, neck, or pelvic discomfort

  • Muscle tension or soreness

  • Difficulty bending, collecting, or engaging hind end

  • Behavioral changes associated with discomfort (sourness, irritability, reluctance to work)

  • Recovery support following training intensity or competition

Spinal manipulation is not a treatment for specific diseases, but may be used to support normal joint motion, neuromuscular function, and overall performance in conjunction with your primary veterinarian’s diagnosis and treatment plan.
